Books

This is a collaborative handbook for help relating to the use of the AWG Website, and its underlying Drupal engine.

This is what is called a collaborative book, for the development of the Sub-Architectures of the Enterprise Architecture. An Enterprise Architecture (EA) is not a one time single document, but rather a collection of models and principles that provide a mental model of organization. Architecture defines the relationships between entities within an organization, just as an architectural blueprint for a building shows the interconnection between parts. Without a blueprint, one can't determine the result of changes made to any individual part on the whole. Enterprise Architecture's goal is to remove inhibitors to change, so an organization can continue achieve its objectives in a constantly changing environment.

This collaborative book is for documenting the major iniatives that the industry and IMT is considering. These often are three letter accronyms that define an industry approach to a suite of opportunities, such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Identity Management (IdM), Enterprise Content Management (ECM), Customer Relationship Management (CRM) etc. The idea here is to to gather information and ideas as we develop a strategy to approach these areas of interest.
This the place for policy and procedure creation, standards formation, that the AWG is asked to participate in. None of these policies are final or authoritative, but works in progress.

Some technologies which have not yet been widely adopted or available, deserve consideration as they mature. Emerging Technology Reports allow for brief analysis of these technology futures, even if adequate information is not yet available for adoption, so that strategic and architectural alignment, and feasibility can be evaluated. It is likely that these reports will be updated as more information becomes available, therefore versioning should be used.

This is a place to move content that should no longer be considered in as part of final published works.
